1. The Department

The Aston Villa Foundation is the official Charity of Aston Villa Football Club and prides itself in being innovative in its approach to the club being used as a ‘Force for Good’.

The Youth & Community department is a fundamental strand within the Foundation and is critical in supporting young people to raise their aspirations and divert them away from negative influences, within Birmingham and its surrounding areas.

2. The Role

As a Youth Mentor you will be responsible to lead on the planning and delivery of the Children in Need (CiN) mentoring programme. You will need have the ability to engage and empower vulnerable and ‘at-risk’ young people with complex needs and raise their aspirations by providing a high-quality mentoring experience.

Additionally, you will have responsibility to build positive relationships with key stakeholders to capture the impact the programme has had on individuals and develop informal and formal pathways to provide relevant exit routes for the young people.

3. The Person

The Aston Villa Foundation are seeking a highly skilled and driven Youth Mentor, with excellent communication and active listening skills and the ability to show empathy and motivate others.

You will need to demonstrate experience in working with marginalised young people and hold relevant qualifications such as a level two in youth work practice and/or effective mentoring. Given the need to engage with young people, the Mentor must have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide ongoing support and guidance to move them onto a positive path in life and instill growth mindsets.
