1. The Department

Our Boys Academy Department has been awarded the prestigious category one status accolade demonstrating that we provide the highest level of quality coaching, education, training and facilities for our youth football provisions.

In order to deliver our ambitious plans for nurturing, encouraging and developing talent at this level we have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Foundation/Youth Development Phase Sport Scientist to join the Academy Sport Science and Medical Department.

2. The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual who is passionate about long term athlete development and delivering a physical pathway to support this.

This role will be an integral part of a growing Sport Science team and will help to deliver the Sport Science provision across all ages within the Academy with a specific focus on the U9-16s. You will need to have detailed knowledge and the ability construct, implement and review age specific athletic development training programmes (gym and field-based) and differentiate this content between Foundation Phase and Youth Development Phase. This will be a varied role - you will be involved in collecting and utilising player growth and maturation data to produce reports, implementing Academy’s physiological testing battery and designing age specific player monitoring strategies.

For further information about the Role, please see the Role Profile.

3. The Person

The successful candidate will need to have a comprehensive scientific knowledge base with an understanding of how to apply that knowledge in a practical setting throughout the Foundation and Youth Development age groups. As a minimum, you will need to have a BSc in Sport and Exercise science (or equivalent) and hold or be working towards a MSc in Sport and Exercise Science (or equivalent) and have extensive experience of working with elite young athletes. A Strength and Conditioning accreditation would also be advantageous.

You must also be available to work flexibly as this role will require you to work evenings and weekends, and you will need to hold a full, UK driving licence.

As part of your application, please ensure you upload your CV and Cover Letter.
