1. The Department

The Aston Villa Foundation is the official Charity of Aston Villa Football Club and prides itself in being innovative in its approach to the club being used as a ‘Force for Good’.

The Neighbourhoods Lead will work within the Foundation’s newly formed Community department, which has been established to work with local community, education and faith based groups to engage and provide advocacy, focusing on local communities, using sport and physical education to provide diversionary activities and reduce the risk of crime and violence.

2. The Role

The Foundation has been successful in securing £1million from the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) to deliver a place-based programme through their Neighbourhood Fund. The programme looks to empower local people to make decisions in their community, that can prevent children and young people from becoming involved in violence.

The successful candidate will work closely with a newly formed Community Steering Group, made up of dedicated and passionate residents and stakeholders from the local neighborhoods of Lozells and Newtown. The Neighborhoods Lead will guide this group with their development and support them though the successful implementation of a co-designed programme action plan.

To achieve the outcomes of the action plan, the Neighborhoods Lead will work closely with a variety of third-party organisation who can deliver the identified themes, set out in the action plan. This will require the ability to build and maintain relationships while monitoring their work against milestones and outcomes.

3. The Person

The Foundation are seeking a highly motivated person, with excellent relationship and communication skills that can support and lead community members, while building positive relationships with local stakeholder and statutory services.

The ideal candidate will be able to represent the Foundation and the programme stakeholders in a positive light, while providing transparency about how the programme is developing, how funding is being spent and if outcomes are being achieved. They must also be also positively contributing to YEF and its evaluations partners evaluations and communities of learning.

You will have a strong track in the area of community development, particually in supporting the development of community groups. Experience in the management of programme funds, in line with programme action plans would be desirable.
