1. The Department

Our Boys Academy Department has been awarded the prestigious category one status accolade demonstrating that we provide the highest level of quality coaching, education, training and facilities for our youth football provisions.

In order to deliver our ambitious plans for nurturing, encouraging and developing talent at this level we have an exciting opportunity for a Sport Scientist/Sports Therapist to join the Academy Sport Science and Medical Department.

2. The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Sport Scientist or Sport Therapist to join our team. The role will be responsible for assisting and where applicable leading the implementation, and evaluation of Athletic Development support for our Academy players specifically working with our Youth and Professional Development Phase players. You will contribute towards the Academy Sport Science and Medical Department’s vision of optimising player health, availability and physical performance through an elite evidence-based athletic development programme.

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, passionate about gym based adolescent Athletic Development, has an eye for movement analysis and the ability to coach with energy to engage and help young players surpass their potential. 3. The Person

To be considered for this role, you will need to hold the following qualifications:

 

* BSc (Hons) in Sport Science or Sports Therapy (minimum 2:1)

* MSc in Strength and Conditioning (or equivalent)

* UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) accreditation or equivalent (or in progress)

 

You must have significant demonstrable experience in providing high-quality gym based Athletic Development coaching to elite youth athletes in a full-time capacity within a professional sporting environment. You will have a thorough understanding of Athletic Development principles, including coaching fundamental movements, strength and conditioning, growth and maturation, injury prevention, gym-based rehabilitation and physical performance analysis.

You must be able to work in a team environment with previous demonstrable experience of working within Interdisciplinary and Multi-Disciplinary Teams.

Knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan (Category 1 Academy) and experience of the requirements of a football Youth Development and Professional Development Phase environment would be desirable.
