1. The Department

The Data and Insights team is growing and plays a pivotal part in shaping business strategy at Aston Villa Football Club.

The team is part of the Strategy and Analytics Department, is responsible for the management of all 1st party data, CRM integrations, research and media valuation tools, delivering reporting and insights to the business operations.

The team works at a fast pace, providing support for commercial, brand and fan growth objectives across all areas of the Club. As the Club continues to progress in all areas, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of the journey.

2. The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence Engineer to join the team who will be central to our operation, leveraging data to fuel our ambitious growth, drive key decisions and strategic projects.  This will include:

*          Partnering closely with Commercial, Finance and Operational business functions, to advance the Club’s data infrastructure and support in transforming data into actionable insights and triggered events for management reporting and CRM purposes.

*          Harnessing your expertise in data engineering, data science, and business analysis to support a centre of excellence for data and its generation, transformation, and aggregation to create meaningful metrics, reporting and analytical tools.

*          You will also be responsible for collaborating with third-party suppliers and agencies for data sourcing and report maintenance, ensuring seamless integration

3. The Person

You will need:

*          Demonstrable experience or certification(s) within the field of data engineering, data science, and/or business analysis.

*          Experience managing data pipelines & orchestration that enable the transfer and processing of data. (Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Alteryx. Snowflake, Apache)

*          Coding and programming skills, capable of working through complex problems with others from the team, adapting quickly to changing market trends and business needs. (SQL, Python or R)

*          To be comfortable utilising cloud-based services and corresponding toolsets. (Microsoft Azure, GCP, AWS or similar).
