1. The Department

Aston Villa Football Club are building a stage for magical memories in our redevelopment and expansion of Villa Park to create a world class sports and entertainment venue and a thriving community hub. Our redevelopment project includes increasing Villa Park’s capacity to over 50,000 and the creation of the new multi – use space called ‘The Warehouse’ which will include a new Fan Zone destination and dynamic events space for non – matchdays.

At the heart of every successful project is our Health and Safety department who are dedicated to promoting a strong safety culture and legal compliance across all areas of the Club, fostering trust and ultimately protecting our staff, partners and fans to ensure they can perform at their best. To help us bring our vision to life we have a number of contractors and partners working together on the master plan. We have an exciting opportunity for a Contractor Management Officer to join the team.

2. The Role

You will play a key role in supporting the team to ensure that contractors are effectively managed and are operating safely, efficiently and in line with compliance primarily at Villa Park but also across our other Club sites as and when required. You will oversee all aspects of contractor engagement, from pre-qualification and documentation review to delivering safety inductions, monitoring and issuing permits. A key aspect of this role will be becoming proficient in our electronic safety management system – My Compliance and you will be responsible for the system ensuring it is used as effectively and efficiently as possible. This is a real opportunity to have real impact and promoting a proactive, collaborative  strong culture of Health and  Safety throughout the Club.

3. The Person

You will need to be proactive and organised individual with proven experience working in a similar role, preferably in a sporting, construction or large venue environment. You must hold a National General Certificate in Health & Safety or similar qualification which demonstrates a strong foundation in health and safety principles, risk management and regulatory compliance. You will need to be able and comfortable in challenging non – compliance whilst maintaining a professional and collaborative approach.

You will need strong written and communication skills with attention to detail, with an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way

You must have to a vehicle and / or the ability to travel between our Club sites. You must also be able to work flexibly as the Club requires, which will include working evenings and weekends.
