1. The Department
Our Boys Academy Department has been awarded the prestigious category one status accolade demonstrating that we provide the highest level of quality coaching, education, training and facilities for our youth football provisions.
In order to deliver our ambitious plans for nurturing, encouraging and developing talent we have an exciting opportunity for a doctor to join the Academy Sport Science and Medicine Department on a full-time basis. This position plays a crucial role in leading the delivery of sports and exercise medicine to our Academy Players, ensuring the health, fitness and wellbeing of our aspiring talent.
2. The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced doctor to join our expanding team.
The role will be responsible for providing medical leadership and clinical operational support. You will co-ordinate, support, and deliver an expert player centered medical provision to our Academy Players.
You will contribute towards the Academy Sport Science and Medical Department’s vision of optimising player availability, engagement, and performance through an elite evidence-based sports medicine service.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual, who has a passion for performance medicine and player health and wellbeing with a desire to help young players through the unique health challenges associated with growth and maturation. 3. The Person
To be considered for this role, you will need to hold the following qualifications:
- General Medical Council (GMC) registered Doctor
- Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF) or equivalent (the Club may be able to support an ATMMiF qualification providing you are a GMC registered Doctor)
You must have demonstratable experience in providing a high-quality effective performance medicine provision to elite young athletes within a professional sport. You will require a comprehensive understanding of the science that supports fitness, health, and wellbeing in youth athletes.
You must be able to work in a team environment with previous demonstratable experience of working collaboratively within Inter-Disciplinary and Multi-Disciplinary Teams.
Knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan (Category 1 Academy) with previous experience in managing and overseeing medical practitioners including competency in basic MSK injection therapy and diagnostic ultrasound is desirable.
