1. The Department
Our Boys Academy Department is proud to have achieved the prestigious Category One Academy status which reflects our commitment to delivering excellence across all areas of youth football including coaching, education, training, and facilities. We are dedicated to supporting and nurturing the next generation of elite footballers, as demonstrated in our memorable treble-winning 2024/25 season for our U18s as we topped the Under-18 Premier League Southern section table, the Under-18 Premier League national title and we lifted the prestigious FA Youth Cup.
As we continue to build on this success, we are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced Doctor to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in leading the delivery of sports and exercise medicine to our Academy players.
2. The Role
As the Lead Doctor, you will be responsible for providing medical leadership and clinical governance support to the Sport Science and Medicine Department. You will co-ordinate, support and deliver an expert player centererd sports medicine provision ensuring players receive optimal medical care to enhance performance, safeguard player welfare and comply with regulatory standards.
Based at our world-class Bodymoor Heath Training Ground, you’ll play a fundamental role in helping young players through the unique health challenges associated with growth and maturation in elite sport. As part of our wider medical department, you will work closely with our team of highly experienced doctors, benefiting from a collaborative and supportive environment to ensure our players reach their full potential and thrive in a high-performance environment.

3. The Person
To be considered for this role, you will need to hold the following qualifications:
* General Medical Council (GMC) registered Doctor
* Experience of working as a doctor or medical officer providing medical services to Youth Athletes in professional sport
* Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
You must have demonstratable experience in providing a high-quality effective performance medicine provision to elite young athletes within professional sport with a comprehensive understanding of the medical science that supports their fitness, health, and wellbeing.
We are seeking a team player who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and has significant experience working collaboratively within interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary Teams.
Knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan (Category 1 Academy) with previous experience in managing and overseeing medical practitioners including competency in basic MSK injection therapy and diagnostic ultrasound is desirable. Membership to the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) will be highly advantageous.
