1. The Department

The Aston Villa Foundation is the official Charity of Aston Villa Football Club and prides itself in being innovative in its approach to the club being used as a ‘Force for Good’.

Our Further and Higher Education Team offers a post 16 programme that uses the vehicle of football to give local youngsters the opportunity to excel in education whilst optimising their employability through sport.

2. The Role

In this role, you will contribute towards the Foundation’s vision of optimising student availability and performance through an elite evidence-based sports medicine provision, specifically working with 16–19-year-old students. Based at Aston Villa Inner City Academy, you will implement effective assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured students. In addition, a proactive approach to injury prevention is required, delivering individualised and group injury prevention / athletic development sessions to all enrolled students.

3. The Person

The successful candidate will hold a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy and should and have an in-date FA Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) qualification. You must be a strong team player and have a growth mindset, with proven previous experience of working within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams. Previous experience of working with young athletes you must be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of applied anatomy and have the ability to perform clear and structured injury assessments that accumulate in injury diagnosis and associated detailed rehabilitation plan. Experience of player profiling and the ability to develop and deliver strategies that manage injury risk and take into account growth and maturation is required.
