1. The Department

The Aston Villa Foundation is the official Charity of Aston Villa Football Club and prides itself in being innovative in its approach to the club being used as a ‘Force for Good’.

The Football and Education (F&E) Department sits within the Aston Villa Foundation and offers a post -16 programme using the football as a vehicle to give local young people the opportunity to excel in education whilst optimising their employability through sport. Additionally, the role requires delivery within our Schools Sport and Football in the Community Departments which also sit within the Aston Villa Foundation. The Schools Department are striving to be at the forefront of supporting schools across the city through innovative curriculums and bespoke delivery. The department oversees our Primary School Sport and Education programmes that aim to engage and inspire children and teachers across the National Curriculum using the power of the football, the football club, and the Premier League.

The Football in the Community department offers high quality football and multi-sport provision for children of all ages and abilities in the local and wider communities.

2. The Role

The Football & Education (F&E) Officer is responsible for planning and delivering training sessions and matches, whilst managing a designated U19 team within the Football & Education (F&E) Programme during term time.

You will implement a high-quality coaching syllabus in line with the Aston Villa Foundation technical programme and philosophy. You will also imbed and promote the Aston Villa Foundation culture, creating a positive environment for the development of young players and people.

Within your delivery timetable you will also deliver high quality lessons in different primary schools across the academic year, linking the delivery to the national curriculum and using Premier League Primary Stars and Aston Villa branding to engage learners.

You will also be delivering on the Football in the Community programmes during the school holidays.

3. The Person

We are seeking a minimum UEFA C Licenced coach (FA Level 2) or more desirably a UEFA B Licenced coach, who has demonstrable experience in coaching and developing players within the 11-a-side game. You will need to have excellent organisational and motivational skills with the ability to inspire and lead a team.

You will also have an FA Emergency First Aid qualification alongside a strong understanding of safeguarding and health and safety principles.  A D1 minibus license is desirable for this role.

You will also have demonstrable experience of working in a school and/ or community sports organisation and have knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2. Additionally, experience of working in a community environment and holiday camps/courses is desirable for this role.
