1. The Department

As part of the wider Facilities and Estates Department, our award-winning Pitch Grounds Team at both Villa Park and Bodymoor Heath Training Ground are responsible for the care and maintenance of our playing and training pitches ensuring the best possible elite-level playing surfaces for our teams. We pride ourselves on innovation and sustainability and we have proudly achieved the prestigious Premier League Grounds Team of the Season more than once which is a testament to our exceptional standards and dedication.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Grounds Person to join our team at Bodymoor Heath Training Ground.

2. The Role

This role will play a vital role in keeping our day-to-day operations at Bodymoor Heath running smoothly, your responsibilities will include grass cutting, marking out, re-seeding, aerating, fertilising and verti-cutting in line with the Club’s health and safety guidelines. You will also ensure that internal records are maintained and accurate and that all tools and equipment are maintained and stored safely and securely when not in use. You will also support the wider Estates team as and when required.

This will be a varied, hands-on and active role which will include working outside in changing and inclement weather conditions when required.

3. The Person  

You will need to have an NVQ Diploma (Level 2) in Horticulture/Sports Turf or equivalent with proven experience of working in a similar grounds role.

You will need to be able to work as part of a dedicated, wider team but also independently when required. We are looking for someone who can use their own initiative to solve problems with the ability to remain calm under pressure and work to deadlines whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail.

Ideally you will have PA1 / PA2 and PA6A spray qualification and experience and have worked on professional football pitches previously.

You will need to be available to work flexibly as the Club requires this will include training sessions and matchday working in line with the team schedules.
